I have written several times to Minority leader Jeffries about how badly he managed the 2024 election in our district. The incumbent had no business running for re-election. We have not had District representation for close to 2 years. I completely agree with your points of view. I am one of those privileged old white guys and I believe you are the only candidate who should represent us in DC.
This old woman was writing to Grijalva starting in Jan '24 asking why he was missing votes. No response. He finally announced his cancer in April and then ran again, and won, of course - but with lots fewer votes. I'll never vote for another Grijalva and am SO glad you are running!
I love your comments and your energy. But sadly, the Republicans in Congress still have 218 seats versus 214 for the Democrats. If the three Dem Congresspeople had not died, Mike Johnson would still be the speaker with a 218 to 217 majority.
In theory that is true but with the cultish manner that the House Republicans are voting, to please the orange felon leader, it’s almost impossible to get enough of them to vote with the Dems. And we can assume, that all the talk going on behind their closed doors is strategy driven. They know exactly how many votes they need to beat out the Dems so they make sure they have enough (just one vote over the 50% mark) and then they don’t care which ones go to the other side. None of it is by accident. So if a Massie or one of the other “rogues” want to vote no, it’s no big deal. They have their 51% of the votes no matter what. And the devil is in the details. Originally there were 9 or 10 Republicans in the House that were going to vote against the BBB, but what happened to those votes. Well, they spend a few days behind closed doors and poof, their votes turned into supporting the bill. Ciscomani is an example of how those votes change practically overnight. Someone must be waving a magic wand and the world turns over itself! This happens every time because the pressure is on them and the pressure is huge. I don’t think we will ever see enough Republicans in the House vote with the Dems. They know how to use the numbers to work for them. And they will twist arms and do the big ugly work to make it happen. I think history has proven me right. (The only true exception was McCain in the senate who voted against repealing the ACA and that was over a decade ago and that was before Trump when some Republicans actually voted their conscience not their party line.) In all honesty, I don’t think any of the Republicans intended to vote against the bill (except the one/s who actually did) . They like to talk up their “concern” about this part or that part. These people are not leaders. They are manipulated by Trump. Even Murkowski admitted in public that they are all scared of Trump.
Wishing you success. If you haven’t studied these topics already, please take some crash courses in subjects such as psychopathology, communications, Constitutional law, and military history.
Yes, Deja. Trump and the GOP's ability to do what they are doing now is an indictment of the lack of leadership from Hakeem Jeffries, Chuck Schumer, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former President Joe Biden, and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Remember how they all allowed Senator Schumer to parade around an obviously incapacitated Dianne Feinstein before she died, pretending like she was okay when she obviously was on death's door? Remember how they all allowed former Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema tank the progressive elements of the original "BBB" bill in 2021? Get rid of ALL the moronic, power hungry, bought-and-paid for Democrats in Congress. 😡
nope--way deeper than that. The ones who are reaping rewards are interested in bigger fish to fry. When Trump called Putin after the bill passed and they spoke for 45 minutes, followed by a huge bombardment of Ukraine, you can bet the conversation was very wide ranging. When Trump uses Mafioso tactics to threaten, bully, put the thumbscrews on anyone who seems to be stepping out of line, you can bet there is way more than meets the eye. Part is his racism, part is his hubris, part is the pending jail terms as soon as he leaves office, part is the latest Russian who lost his life by "falling" out of a high window....way more than your trope going on here.
I attended a Dem meeting in Pima Co. before Grijalva died and asked that the local Dem Party ask Grijalva to step down. I was greeted with a lot of hostility with the suggestion as if I were blaspheming Mr.Grijalva. I had deep respect for him but he had missed around 400 votes in the House over the years and he was NOT representing thousands of his constituents anymore since he was not an active House member.
The elephant in the room got shot that day because the Dems (once again) refused to look truth in the eye and say the quiet stuff out loud. It reminded me of how they refused to see the problems with Biden running again until it was too late.
In all honesty, I think Deja is too young and too inexperienced to be a House member. But I also think we leave in crazy and bizarre times and so many of us are tired of the Chuck Schumers of the world and people getting elected because of their last name.
I honestly haven’t made up my mind. I still have time, until July 15, so keep up the good work Deja. I’m not opposed to you at all. You have a fire in your belly that us old people lack. I guess I’d like to see where you stand on the issues. You present yourself as a fighter, but what are you fighting for? What are you fighting against?
Go Deja! We need more leadership like yours. You have a story people can get behind. People need to stop supporting the “old guard”.

Good luck Deja! I donated to you and would have certainly voted for you if I was in your district.

I need to modify that - I was thinking only of the primary.
IF Adelita wins the primary, of course I will vote for her.
It's the Republicans I will never vote for.

But you need fewer Repubs and MAGA to vote with you in order to make a different outcome. That counts for a lot.

Have you contacted your local indivisible organization. They endorse people with progressive values and they can help you in your campaign.
Just filled in the little dot next to your name on my ballot. Thanks for running!
Keep going. Keep sharing truth, accountability and acceptance.
Our Democratic elected representatives evidently are Forfeiting the match to Republicans.
We need more fighting and less talking.

Sunnygirl, maybe you would be interested in the rally at Hotel Congress on Friday? You can make up your mind after what you see and hear there.
